That sounds fab tomsmum! I totally get the "wheeeee!" feeling after an OW swim, its an amazing buzz that lasts all day. Sadly I've only ever managed sea swims a couple of times at events; living in Nottingham rather precludes me from visiting the coast often!

Lots of amazing swimming on here!! Well done peeps. I'm still swimming in my local lake which is open at weekends and just recently one day in the week (which I can't make). T'was 7 degrees last Sat and I'll be in tomorrow, expecting it to be 6.5 or even 6, but we'll see. |

De-lurking to say that I still haven't managed to get anywhere near CSS pace in the pool so still haven't managed a 'proper' training swim doing timed lengths. On Monday I swam 3.1k without the bleep, just taking a few seconds of rest after each km. Basically my 'long swim' pace is *much* slower than my 400m or 200m pace. I have February and March to get my act together before hitting the outdoor lake, and am getting a bit concerned that there's a huge training gap to fill before Coniston. |

FGR article in this month's Cumbria magazine. Jenny is probably one of the best swimmers to have attempted the round. |

Welcome I was forced to close down the FGR on Monday, lots of disappointed people. The fells and lakes are going nowhere, they will be there when this is all over.

I've just been banned from one of the open water swimming groups. They are still encouraging OWS and even getting new people involved. A water rescue takes lots of people and is far harder than scooping you up from the side of the road but the arrogance is quite shocking. The RYA, BCU and canals and rivers trust have all asked that we stay off of the water. Swimming needs to stop too.
