Pittodrie turn was moved up a bit to accommodate the start line move - they wanted to do a loop but couldnt. The course was measured using the tightest line possible - using the whole road.

The local marshals were great but most of the ones in the "Event Staff" jackets were miserable buggers! OK we were back of the pack, but a fair percentage didn't even make eye contact as they were on their phones and hearing " OMG we are going to be here forever!" as we struggled up a steep hill (Gallowgate) at 11 miles was just not on!!!!

I think most of the Event Staff had been shipped up from Glasgow. Struggled to get to marshall registration due to road closures and I spoke to about 4 of them who couldn't help as obviously didn't know the area.

I was at the esplanade at around 9.30am and one of them was shouting at a few kids who were cycling on the road. No need for that when first runners weren't going to appear for another 90 mins!

we did have one stop us on our pre-race drive around and query why we wanted through - "what's this for then?" - as we sat in a big bright yellow car with a clock on the top!

OC that's hilarious. I'm afraid I would have tried to think of a smart comment though :)

we couldn't stop laughing all morning about that - well apart from when we got to the last turn in the 10k route and the wrong bit was barriered off and a band tent was in the way! - that was at 0835! The 10k started at 0900!

Ah the joys and stress of race organising. I once had a discussion with a policeperson at stonehaven about the benefit of moving a barrier which was blocking the road that runners were about to come down.
