OK - I have just looked at the website and they take place on Saturdays at either 11.30 or 3pm (so the parkrun idea still stands!!) If a group of more than 15 people wants to book (and this thread has 63 watchers) then they have to book direct over the phone but otherwise it would look as if we could all book directly on the website.

It would appear they happen on 2 Saturdays a month - July doesn't appear to be available but August 10 and 17 are and so are 14/21 Sept.

Although I don't think we need to worry too much about dates at this stage, until we know how many would definitely be interested and could get there for one or other of those times on a Saturday (with or without an Archers-themed parkrun experience beforehand!)

Even if nobody else is interested that group would be the three Fetchies I've most wanted to meet for a very long time!!

I have just googled a guest house in Birmingham where I used to stay when I was in the area (and where some of the Archers cast also used to stay when they were recording - which was always hugely exciting) but sadly it appears to have closed - that might scupper my plans to be in Brum for a parkrun as well!

Indeed :-)

I've just listened with a level of incredulity to the storyline about Shula wanting to be ordained.

I'll give their scriptwriters credit for attempting to talk faith stuff to a lay audience, but they didn't address the biggest 'elephant in the room' which is that each Diocese has a maximum age level for ordination, partly because of the return on the investment cost of training.

My Diocese max age is 53 for stipendiary (paid) ministry, and 58 for self-supporting ministry. Add 2 years of discernment then 3 years of training to Shula's current 61ish years and I'd struggle to see how she would qualify in time. Another 4 years of curacy wouldn't leave much time for a fully qualified priest to work before retiring at the current mandatory 70 years of age.

I haven't been paying much attention recently because her 3 years of Lay Reader training passed me by. If that's relatively recent then a few more questions spring to mind. I might start listening regularly again to see how this one pans out!
