Baz said pretty much what I wanted to say. I don't think you need to get too worried if the pace comes out a bit quicker than your plan Lark. You've done enough running to know how it should feel at different parts of a HM so at least to some extent I think you've got to run to feel....

Ditto - I did 1:23 off 18:32, and I thought 1:25 odd was the best I could hope for. I think you should have lots of confidence. :-) G

LOL, you guys with your pace aspirations... ;-)

I know I get accused of sandbagging, but at least I'm plotting last weekend's 18:35 using an accepted linear progression!!

Yes, running to feel has to be the right thing to do. What will be will be!!

I know some people find speed easier and others find endurance easier. Just don’t limit yourself. I would say sub 85 is something you should consider but with the potential for more.

I'm not ruling it out Baz - but I've not had a properly consistent set of training over the last few months.

Mileage since the beginning of Feb has been:-
19
40
42
40
32
31
46
51
39
25
0
32
20
53
27

Inconsistency reflects niggles, holidays, work getting in the way etc etc. Race times have been good, but not outstanding. BEst WAVA has been the 5k at 76, but 5m races have been in the 74s, and a 74 HM would be under 1:27:30 for me. I'd need to be hitting all time highs of 77s and 78s to be in the 1:23-24 range. Not out of the question, but at the very top end.

We'll see on Sunday!

Historically my best WAVA has been for half marathon. It was 10k for a while but after my PB in March it’s back to the half again.

I broadly think that 10m-HM ought to be my best distances too - let's see...!

Nice one Clare! Lots of time between now and then as well to get in sub 1:30 form. Are you going to follow a plan?

1:26:51 at Chester today. Second best HM and best in WAVA terms so no complaints. Weather was perfect and without the hill at the end (it's net up hill as a course so that's not just a course profile complaint!) I might have nicked a small PB. Pacing was consistent and nearly jogged it in from about 8 miles out so pretty pleased with the day out overall. Outcome reflects the consistency (or lack of!) of the build up.

May blog at some point!!
