interesting I'd struggle to walk fast enough to hit 111 - usually walking has me in the high 90s. as soon as I run, however easy, my HR is at least 130. I don't think I've ever managed to hit a number between the two - off to check! |

I match up pretty close to the Niko Niko guidelines and my running improvement has been a lot more than I ever believed possible when I started.

Is the story of your improvement visible anywhere, jdarun?

So many things affect heart rate. Any simple rules for effort level based on heart rate are likely to be misleading.

Why is it at after hitting 50 my body seems to be falling apart? My foot is sore again and really hoping its not the return of the dreaded PF, I miss being out running and looks like it is going to have to be turbo trainer time for a while. At least I cant fall off that and break anything....... |

I REALLY noticed slowing down at ... 60. I don't think there's a number that applies across the board. I hope it's not tempting fate but, age 65, I didn't pick up so much as a niggle last year in spite of training and competing as hard as ever, ie very and a lot. Partly luck I assume - but I think awareness of form and your own biomechanics help a lot. And applying some intelligence to your training. We should have learned a bit by now! |
