So here’s a thing. I broke my wrist on holiday 2 weeks ago undertaking a difficult technical manoeuvre (walking ;( ). Slipped walking on a wet rock on a hill in my trail shoes and took the hit on my dominant hand. My first break in my 50 years - but I’m sure I’ve had similar mishaps in the past. Any experience/ comment? Do folk here actively get more cautious in their 50s on the terrain on which they run. |

By coincidence MrsP broke her wrist walking to work about six weeks - which was her second break in four years and also second in 56. We certainly seem to be brittler than our younger selves.

At 65 I've been getting consciously more cautious for a year or two. My balance/reactions/muscle strength are less adequate than they used to be.

I am just accident prone I think but things do seem to break easier in the last 10/15 years - foot, wrist, ribs, ribs, toes!!!

Fell over with a bit of pace on the dry ski slope last year, just badly sprained wrist (and huge lump on hip for a few months) there was some concern initially about the wrist - in the end seems that was due to a previous break on scaphoid casting a shadow? I know they lower the binding setting on the skis to allow for my doddery mid 50s bones |
