I might have more fast twitch than would be expected - however there are lots of places where a runner can turn up and happily be thoroughly mediocre from 5K to ultra, but very little point in going anywhere to be slightly less mediocre over 100 to 1500m.

(Last bumpy 10K was 1:00:26 and last (hilly) parkrun was 28:45 (watch times). Fetch mile was 7:54 which was about 2-3% better WAVA and I ran 800m since then in a sort of mini time trial in 3:25. The latter apparently predicts a sub-50 10K. Which I would be delighted with and which would put me mid pack in most races. 3:25 in any usual kind of 800m event in my cohort however would I expect see me DFL by a distance.)

It does mean I can look fast at then end of races though. I can generally fire up the Quattro and burn off anyone around me over the last 200-300m and especially over the last 60-70m. Not that I'm actually fast, I just appear to be next to people who are often, tbh, on their last legs.

Always used to be able do a reasonable if shortish sprint finish even at end of hard run/race.

Now not so much - suspect largely because so unfit & so far into the red early when push, even on a run walk Parkrun.

Had one of those genetic tests a while ago - said I'm 80% power 20% stamina - apparently I'm Greg Rutherford, if Greg was short fat & bald...oh and a Mediterranean diet is good for my gene type

I'm a one-trick slow-twitch pit pony. I've never cracked 20s for 100m and have no finishing sprint even at the end of races I've paced conservatively; exhausted people hammer past me on the finish line and there's nothing I can do about it. Whereas eL Bee!'s profile of race performances (sub-12s 100m, just over 5min for a mile, and a sub-3 marathon, all within a very short time of one another and all reproducible, AND he can out-endurance me on the bike) makes me almost believe Alex Viada is a real person.

You both put in the training so your results are more indicative than, say, mine would be.

BanjoBax, what was your genetic test?

Helegant - Was a DNAfit test : physical & diet assessment

They seemed to have a good reputation when I looked, not sure it was worth it - even with a healthy discount. Besides the power thing, they did say I was prone to soft tissue injury which correlates with me rarely getting one cheek off the injury bench.

There was some assesment given as to why the Mediterranean diet was ideal for my gene type, but didn't seem very earth shattering, anyone off the street could have recommended that.

I think the Mediterranean diet is probably good for all of us :-)
