I thought double-yellows only meant No Parking and as long as you're sitting in the car, you're not parked. Double red lines mean No Stopping.

[They mean no waiting, so technically stopping to drop off a passenger would be fine, but getting out and making sure Little Johnny puts his packed lunch in the correct box and hanging up his jacket, probably not so much....]

Double-yellows mean No Waiting as well as No Parking. It is also forbidden ever to park in a cycle lane. That would be news to the many drivers around here who seem to think that cycle lanes are actually reserved parking spaces.
