Oi McG! Up the Blues! and down the claret and blue scum across the expressway (you can take the boy out of Brum, but you can't take Brum out of the boy)... oh yes where were we?

Lordy! so it turns out they did ask Carey Mulligan to be a companion and she said no!

Peter Capaldi seems to have aged a lot since the last episode

I liked it, David Bradley did a fine job and can definitely stand tall as an 'official' Doctor* :-) The only bit I was unsure of was Capaldi's rather long winded and repetitive speach before his regeneration :-(

I did wonder whether the new Doctor's first words would be 'STILL not ginger?' (Though after the misinterpretation of Smith's regeneration first few comments might have put the writers off mentioning hair colour?)

* Obviously sharing credit for playing the same incarnation as William Hartnell.

I was bored by the whole affair. Too much talky talky, not really any story.

And must we keep bringing all the old assistants to 'see off' the dying doctor?

Looking forward to seeing what they are going to do with Jodie. Hoping for a real improvement in script-writing.

So, farewell then

Steven Moffat.
You took the baton from RTD
But dropped it, quite often.
Still, I'll forgive anything
Of the man who gave us Blink
And Carey Mulligan.

I thought the Xmas episode was ok. Started well with the interactions in the TARDIS but didn't really get going. Hopeful for the new series though
