Not as comfortable as I thought for Callum, I had 2:09 in mind. It seems harsh if 4th finisher at recent world champs is struggling to qualify. Standards should evolve, this is revolution not evolution.

Hawkins won't struggle, he'll be up there in the rankings assuming he runs a good one in the QT period.

Larkim - "UKA has refused to support invitational athletes in the past” is there a (few) specific examples of this, as it's quite different from not selecting someone and in this case, the non selected person would have a decent World ranking.

There's a World championships this year as well which will score solid ranking points I expect, and is always high on the UKA qualifying criteria so double win.

Honestly, I think we need to be careful with being too critical. The aim is to get 50% of athletes selected via quali times and the other half via the rankings. Athletes like Hawkins should be well within the scope of that with a half decent marathon in the next 12 months.
