The word "psyatica" written on a patient's reason for attendance. One of today's receptionists isn't a brilliant speller, but she also has a wicked sense of humour ...

[I've stopped smiling. It was a genuine error, not a sly message, and the sufferer was highly sensible.]

[Yes, it is, Jovi, and no doubt is quite deliberate. It's a memorable one, at least .

On not making me smile, this is quite disturbing. For decades, women were not believed about side effects of the pill (and even today we have to fight to be believed that we are not imagining it) so my tendency is to believe them. On the other hand, if you are getting breast implants, there is a good chance you are either a cancer survivor and chemo has knocked you to hell and back or you have body dysmorphia and a pretty bad relationship with your body so there may well be psychosomatic effects. Whether it is wholly physical, wholly psychological, or a mix of both, I agree that there needs to be some statistical studies done and if they show a correlation, women should be warned.]

ITG - Yes I definitely believe them. I cannot believe anyone really thinks they are making it up - especially after the controversy when the implants from the French company a couple of years back were found to be leaking chemicals into the women's bodies.

["I feel as if I've run a marathon then dug a million trenches," sets my batshit detector wailing, but I totally agree that reports of side effects from prosthetic breasts need to be followed up. The problem will be finding control groups for studies. Randomising women to studies in which some think they've had implants but actually haven't?]

My spelling on occasions for Patients to see a doctor can be amusing.. I usually type it a couple of times and if it doesn't look right I usually say something else in a round about way.

I think it's funny when patients try to tell me some of the medication they want
