Abingdon - definitely the field of dreams for the sub 3:15ers. Certainly one of my best running moments going under 3:15 for the first time there (3:06). I'm confident of you achieving great things on Sunday Bazo esp. with WW helping with the pacing, it will be a bigger celebration here than the 2013 "triple".

Cutting it fine is always interesting as there's no real difference between 2:59:59 and 3:00:00 and you shouldn't beat yourself up about it, but we all know what happens in reality.

My 2009 Abingdon wasn't of interest then Bazo? Too long ago? Too slow?! :-P fetcheveryone.com/blog/13263/2009/10

Keep the cotton wool well padded, rest up and hit the start line raring to go! Raaar! :-) G

Good luck Bazo.

It’s certainly not quick enough, but here’s my Abingdon blog from 2018: fetcheveryone.com/blog/3/2018/10#blog386151

If you all want a 'how NOT to race Abingdon', read mine from October 2014!!

Really excited to see how you guys get on. Baz, the sub-3 is yours. WW, has to be sub-2:55?

blimey Clare, I'm not sure that I recall reading that one at the time and not sure that I'm glad I did now!! We all have tough ones, often it's unexplained and I think you've just got to hope that it's not your turn on the given race day.

But, back to me, me, me.....yes. Going off around that target pace, thanks for the vote of confidence.

Funny what I found in your blog though that really made me smile. We both must have had hallucinating experiences at the Abingdon marathon as you mention this:

'I had forgotten how long the off-road trail section was - a couple of miles from about 2-4m and quite wet, dirty and 'leaf slushy' in places.'

:-)

My memory must be playing tricks then, WW. I don't recall that at all, despite two visits... :-)

:-) Oscar, I'll blog about it on Sunday. Time is irrelevant now, it's all about determining who has the correct recollection about the mystery trail section :-)

In other news, I have a carb headache and it's only Thursday!
