106 miles for me in the past 13 days including 2*20 milers and 1 P&D session along with plenty of strength and flexibility work. Hmm this distance has surprised even myself. After this week I will through a couple of P&D MLRs see how it goes.

Also HR still running 4/5 bpm below what it was last year and the year before. Decisions to be made!

Evening people this is my first ever post on fetch. I am currently training for Manchester hoping for sub 3:15. Training has gone well and i ran a 1:26 half last week. This will be my 8th marathon my pb being 3:26 in London last year. Wondering whether taking 11 minutes off my pb is likely given the above.

Wilkommen, bienvenue, welcome....

I'd say you are right in the ball park, but there's lots more experienced folk here than me will be along presently. Hard to tell from the training that I can see on your profile.

1:26 looks like you're in a great position to go under 3:15, but like OTG says knowing more about your overall training would give a better indication.

Are you better trained this time than you were for your 3:26?

Welcome, by the way!!

London was slow for most people last year due to the heat, so that's one thing.

Thanks OTG, larkim and jda. I'm following p&d 18 wk 55 mile plan and I have only missed about 2 runs. I ran a 20 miler at 3:15 pace in Feb and finished strong so I think I am in a good place. At last London I stuck to the pacemaker until 16 miles before the heat got to me. I'm hoping for a cool day in Manchester.

Welcome MKH and all the best for Manchester.

I agree that VLM last year is not a good indicator as it was so hot that times were down a lot. On the start line I changed my target to 3:10 and struggled in with a 3:20.

My first 1:26 I converted to a 3:19, but I subsequently converted a future 1:26 (improved by about 40 seconds) to a 3:03 so I would say you are certainly in with a good shout.

Looking for some thoughts from the thread. I have my target HM on Sunday and this week was pencilled in as a spare week with my official plan starting a week early. I am planning on doing a session tomorrow, but not sure what would be best. Would it be MP, tempo or 1k Intervals.

-MP I think I have done enough of recently
- Tempo would be good to see how HMP feels and set whatever target I have. Ive also not quite hit the paces I was after
- 1k Reps I have not run well so far and could do with a better set

I currently have pencilled in 3 x 2miles at HMP with 1 mile easy in between and maybe 12 miles in total.

What type of session have others done in the lead up to a half marathon?

Welcome to fetch and the 3:15 thread MKH

I've ran a couple of marathons around the 3:12 mark off of a half in the 1:26-1:28 region, so as long as you've done the longer runs and have built the endurance ( and with your 20 miler at 3:15 pace then sounds like you have ) then you should be in with a great chance. Hopefully the weather will be favourable in MCR.

Have you decided what pace you are going to set off at ? What pace have you been doing your MP sessions at ?

I'd recommend the Cruise Ks (1k repeats) , i've found they help me dial into target pace and also help build tolerance for the pace even when tired. i've done 10-15 repeats in some sessions.

SKR - what kind of pace do you aim these cruise Ks at ? c5k pace or at HMP ? and what recovery in between?
