I’ll be at the finish line as I’m a medal rack manager again this year. I’ll be off to the side slightly (hopefully Pall Mall side (to the left)) but am able to soak up the atmosphere. Looking forward to maybe meeting some of you though chances are probably slim.

Is there any way in and out of Canary Wharf without the DLR?

Nearest is Canning Town, Jubilee line and walk / bus 1.2 miles? Or other suggestion from VMLM website is the Emirates Cable Car (!) from North Greenwich, also Jubilee. Slightly shorter walk from where it "lands"? :-) G

Oh, sorry, that was for Excel, not Canary Wharf.

Clare, KinkyS, If you start at Greenwich near cutty sark you can go North through the foot tunnel which brings you out at Island Gardens which is about 16 mile mark on the course and a mile or so walk from Canary Wharf.

From there you can cut along the Thames path which then runs mostly parallel to the marathon route until Tower Bridge. It'd be a nice jog which I've done dozens of times as a commute. Curly's public transport route may be a bit easier though.

Jubilee line goes through Canary Wharf to Westminster and through North Greenwich (a little further over from Greenwich but doable).

Alternatively, if you want to get to Shadwell then you can walk/jog over to New Cross Gate from Greenwich (less than 2 miles) and take the overground to Shadwell.

I need to get from Canary Wharf to the start, and then back from the finish. I'm clueless about London geography, it was so easy on the DLR :-(

Kinky if you want easy: take the Jubilee line to London Bridge and then a mainline train to Greenwich.

Its out to go back in but is very easy :)
