Tough times Oscar but probably the only way. Here's hoping for a speedy and complete recovery.

Cheers FF. The lad did brilliantly today, and he was touched by the sight of unexpected, visiting relatives cheering him in at the finish, to tweak the emotional pitch up to 11. Time was irrelevant and he got home in 12.38 after a couple of stops to realign his prosthetic. Inspirational.

I'm still alive after the hottest summer I can remember. I moved to East Germany last October and I've really struggled with acclimatisation. I could deal with the sub zero temperatures in winter but had to ditch a couple of important tempo / marathon pace runs in March due to the extreme cold (-10° and colder) and slippery roads.

Then it got hot within a month: I ran in -3°C on 18 March and nearly slipping on the icy roads and then we hit 25°C on 19 April, just in time for the marathon on the 22 April. I suffered in 27°C in the shade (was 30+ in the sun for most of the course) so 3:45 was the best I could do in these circumstances without any acclimatisation.

I'm really struggling with the conditions in my new hometown, very cold winters and very hot summers (four months of daily max of 30-37°C for most of that time). I didn't run much during those four months so only slowly getting back on track now that it's cooler. Will probably ditch 3.30 attempts until I'm on the move again.
