And what a lovely, sunny, recovery run that was! I've decided to split my '50 week' slightly differently this week; so, recoveries on Monday/Thursday, rest on Tues/Sat, medium/long runs on Weds 16, Fri 12 and Sun 18. Now just need to see if my resolve holds up. |

That sounds hard. But I guess once you are out there... I bet you will be itching to go out on the other days

Hod my last 4 weeks working back are 41, 43.6, 43.5 and 35.3. The 41 should be 50 and this week was supposed to be my cut back week but I've had to move my long run around so 2 long runs this week, so this week will be 50 miles. When I trained for Malaga I only had 6 weeks in the 40's and no 50+ mile weeks at all and that was over 18 weeks mate. You have the base there just train sensibly and you'll be fine. |

Thanks for adding me to the sidebar Clare. Can feel the accumulated fatigue starting to build with the long runs at the moment. Hope it'll pay dividends, keep telling myself its only xx weeks until taper and all that...LOL marathon training madness in full swing! |

Happy to say that I won't be at Abingdon this year! Twice was plenty.

Oscar - if I’ve got it right I’ll enjoy the mlr’s and then the easy days and rest days will have me raring to go🤞

O - As all of the runs where I am until March start with and include (for me) serious hills and I ‘run to feel’ the pace for the mlr’s will be “a pace that feels like I can run all day.” The recovery runs will be even slower. Without a watch I estimate that Saturday’s long run averaged somewhere around 9.30+ per mile with some massive variation depending on whether I was going up or down. Recovery runs are probably more like 10.15+ This terrain brings home one of my maxims that “no training run should make me not want to run the next day” so time really isn’t a factor. I rely on my body/brain to work out a pace that will get me home feeling good. If in any doubt I just go slower. Maybe what I’m doing is simply ‘conditioning’ rather than training. Anyway, 16 planned for tomorrow and I can’t wait. |
