A good measure may be the ability to develop parallel and discrete careers after all the dust settled. Here's another child of Sheffield whose sound I enjoy: Richard Hawley - The Ocean |

Pt 1 of the Katie Puckrik written & presented doco on 'Yacht Rock' [tonight Beeb 4, 9-10pm] was a balanced and well argued summary on the genre, if genre it be. Speakers tied in the moods of the 70s with the music itself, heavily LA-driven though it was. In a way, I was sorry to see Steely Dan included but any musicians who could get Michael McDonald to sing backing vocals [on Aja] certainly had some clout. Pt 2 next Fri., same time, same channel |
