There have been a number of RD at events local to where I live 'migrate' to set up new events and been replaced from within the event team.

Our 'home' event usually requires 8 volunteers although last minute course alterations can require a few more. Just had a look at run/vol ratio for last week:
451/143. 421/146. 64/16. 34/26. 20/11. 15/4. 13/4. 7/45. 4/23 and 0/36

There are 6 RD and about 20 people who volunteer as and when needed so nobody really does more than they are happy with.

Everything seems to work well and without any stress although I am not quite sure what might happen if we all go away on a proposed trip next spring :)

Looking ahead to NYD, been looking at this handy tool tailrun.uk

Last updated on the 13th; so, looking at the Compendium, there are some more to be added. With Strathclyde, Victoria and Pollok all having early starts, I predict a record-breaking turnout at Tollcross at 11:00 (unless Queen's Glasgow declares).

Just seen that Nostell is going for 8:30 NYD this year, and Pontefract hasn't yet declared, so I'm presuming my usual Ponte>Nostell double is out. Unless Ponte are planning o starting at 10 / 10:30 instead of 9am this time.

Event teams have until 17th of December to declare. We had our RDs in place for Xmas and NYD, now we just need some volunteers!

We advertise our Xmas & NYD runs as 'parkrun lite'

No signs on the course, the only setup is the finish funnel, just need 2 x Marshals (plus RD) for safety reasons, and ask the runners to fill other volunteer slots as they finish.

timing? Is it take your own token and press the timer button yourself? We got well over 200 last Xmas and so I think you at least need 1 timer and 1 person on tokens or the funnel will back up.

Our record was Christmas for ages. Something like 480. But I like the idea....

If we haven't had volunteers come forward then RD would time in the first couple and hand tokens out, then passing on the roles to those runners.
