Too Much Water
Surely you can only speak for the parkruns you do briefings at? The last few I've listened to (at different parkruns) have mentioned sponsors, but anyway clapping is voluntary... unless parkrun hq will change that soon!!

I've never heard a sponsor mentioned at a parkrun I've attended, and as a RD I've never been asked to mention a sponsor. I've done about 15 different parkruns so there are 100s of events I haven't been to, of course.

Fair enough - having just checked, thanking the sponsors is optional content and if mentioned should only be occasional. I’ve not heard it in my local area. Clapping is certainly voluntary

I was RD at our parkrun today and I've never even thought of mentioning sponsors! And I've been to several different parkruns and never heard them mentioned. We more than doubled our numbers today : 30, last week was 14 ☺️

Interesting looking at the NZ parkruns (planning to do one on my hols). At least 4 have have a volunteer position of Lead Bike (e.g. Lower Hutt). I had thought it was odd that they had photos of a cyclist as part of the parkrun photos on their Flickr account.

We have a lead bike. There’s a challenge at our run for the lead bike (if they chose) to then do the run and finish before the tail walker.

Penw - That sounds a great challenge. These days at larger parkruns that is probably very do-able and a bit of fun too.
