Mine never bark at parkrun. Wouldn't take them if they did.

Had to ask a couple standing right in front of the RD to STFU during the briefing this morning (What I actually said was 'Please respect the briefing'). Slightly surprised by the venomous look from them but pleased and encouraged by the positive feedback from several others. They did shuffle off to continue their conversation elsewhere.

Might have to try the same a little more often.

Sometimes this site is too clever for it's own good - that should have been 'Please respect the briefing' - no winky smiley intended

I am often amazed at how many people continue chatting during the briefing - and equally amazed by the power of the "shhhhh" at shutting them up!!!

TMW, in the olden days when I was young babies were regularly left outside shops etc, perfectly safely. I get a little cheesed off with the modern, pervasive 'stranger danger' attitude, but don't mind me, I'm just a grumpy old woman today because my parkrun didn't go as well (understatement: it was bl**dy awful) as I'd hoped today :-)

I ssssh'd people talked during the run briefing today , and was pleased to be supported by others assisting my sssh'ing. Talking during the briefing is just rude.

That's true Lazydaisy, perhaps I appear trustworthy.

I personally never attend the briefing (at my local run anyway), I don't particularly want to clap the sponsors whoever they are!

The briefings never ask anyone to clap the sponsors. We applaud the volunteers, mention any hazards and remind people of the under 11 and dog rules and that we’ve not got priority. We also welcome any newcomers (first time or tourist).
