oops!..Poor showing for my Garden Bird Watch this morning so will have another go tomorrow! (which might not be in the ethos of the idea but heck, I don't want to have the worst total in the land!)

I'm the opposite, meant to do it today but then never got round to it. Chaffinches, blue tits, coal tits, goldfinches, greenfinches, robin, blackbird. etc.. all in the garden today. What is the betting they're all off somewhere else when I do the survey tomorrow!

Only bird thing of note on my run today was a very persistent and determined great spotted woodpecker, drumming away to impress the ladies (actually, I presume at this time of year it's more to establish territory, isn't it?)

There was a woodpecker at Storthes Hall parkrun yesterday which kept me company as I checked the course. It was very busy!

Does seeing the reflection of a passing Red Kite in my greenhouse roof count towards my Birdwatch tally 😉

Looks like the wrong sort of day to get a good selection of birds in the garden. Guess what? It's raining again!!
Always nice to hear peckers having a drum. You're right J2R, the drumming is to establish territory but (hey, you'll get into trouble with the woodpecker gender discrimination board!!) both males and female woodpeckers drum. I wonder if one is louder than the other!!
