Depends what you mean by "twittering" BarefootEm. Some songsters are currently having a go even in the city but in the early morning pre dawn and then until an hour maybe after sunrise (here in Cardiff!)..Robin, Dunnock, Great Tit, Song Thrush and they are actually "singing". Twittering on the other hand is different---do you have a roost of say House Sparrows nearby, they can twitter on and off all through the night. At night time (3-4am) Song Thrushes can often make a song of things as can Robins but that is usually about it--there are not any other singing nocturnal birds about right now.
Goosanders on the river again and a Nuthatch whistling loudly in the trees as I ran by.

I’m fairly certain that I saw an owl of some sort on my run just before sun down.
It had fairly light tan foliage and was gliding fairly low above the field. When it alighted on a fence or in a tree, I couldn’t get close enough to see it’s profile to confirm my suspicions. However, I’ve not seen a bird of that size and colour before. It wasn’t the usual colour of most raptors, so if it was an owl it’s a first for me in the wild.

Eynsham Red, sounds very like a barn owl, although people normally remark on the paleness of barn owls. I presume you mean plumage rather than foliage. If you do mean foliage, then it's an owl, Jim, but not as we know it.

We seem to have loads of birds at the moment - I’m having to refill at least one of the four feeders daily
