We pointed out a kingfisher to a middle-aged couple on the canal on Saturday and one of them said, ‘ooh, that blue thing?’

What colour did they expect the canal to be? Two different buzzards circling and mewing on my run today, and a small flock of what i think were redwings, from the size, flying West. |

"We pointed out a kingfisher to a middle-aged couple on the canal on Saturday and one of them said, ‘ooh, that blue thing?" I had similar reaction today when pointing out 2 seals frolicking in the water about 10 metres off the Lindisfarne coast. |

Walking in the woods today on the edge of The New Forest when we heard some deer calling/growling(? don't know the term) so we started stalking them and eventually saw 1 male with the herd who scooted them all away once they spotted us. We then found them again in the next field.

That's it, roaring. Yes, rutting season. We heard 3 different roarings from different directions. Managed a pic at the second spot, there were more just over the brow of the hill but melted into the trees. |
