Oh my goodness - my Aunty Mary used to recite that - I haven't heard it for years! :)

Garden jealously here staying with parents in Devon. Regular GSW on the feeders, coal tits, Blue tits, Robins, blackbirds, blackcap in the field, loads of housemartins and swallows criscrossing the fields, and to cap it all, been sent to sleep by the sounds of the tawny owl (although not seen it). Lots of other sounds and sights that I'm struggling to identify. Also, the amount of insects is crazy, never seen so many bees, including loads of huge bumble bees.

Back to the reality of suburban ecological wasteland tomorrow.

I've been trying to identify bees in the garden today. We had a Nomada marshamella (Marsham's nomad bee), a new one to me.

But not a bird.

We did see some baby curlew when we were out running this evening, though.

00 00 nearly forgot!

Ralph indicated he needed a pit stop, whilst I was driving the scenic route from Keswick to Carlisle, so I stopped off at the car park at Powter Howe and we walked down to Bassenthwaite just in time to see Mr (I assume) osprey saunter past with brunch for his offspring :) - the highlight of the year :)
