2 nice spots FF. We're lucky to have a predictable Little Owl in a nearby barn that seems pretty much guaranteed to sit on the wood pile outside the barn every dusk.

There's apparently ring ouzels around Jaggers Clough on the way up onto Kinder.

So a bloke told me on the top, just after I'd heather-bashed my way up alongside Lady Booth Brook. More annoying since I'd planned to go up Jaggers, and decided on the fly to try a new route :-/

Little owl is probably the regular bird from my old patch I miss most. Not seen one this year :(

We seem to be THE place for local jackdaws to hang out today, at least 10 adults and one juvenile that tried to beg off its parent but was completely rebuffed, so it decided to check out a rose petal to see if it was edible.

I hope they leave some peanuts for my GSWs, I saw the other day that there were actually 3 youngsters, still being fed from time to time.

Fragile, we've started putting peanuts in a squirrel-proof feeder, which is just like a normal peanut feeder within a kind of cage which prevents the squirrels from getting in but allows small birds access. This isn't against squirrels (although we get plenty of them), but to stop jays, who've been devouring the whole lot in a matter of hours! Now the tits can eat in peace.

There were families of blue tits and great tits queuing up for access yesterday, along with a coal tit. Also seen yesterday, on my local run, a little family of whitethroats. I love seeing the bird families at this time of year. It's so nice, before it all gets fractious later on and family counselling have to get involved...

It’s not too bad at the moment. I have a feed station near the house which the little birds are more likely to use, and a peanut feeder further away in an apple tree, which the bigger birds tend to stick to. The GSWs prefer to be further away but will come to the closer one if the other one is empty or mobbed by corvids.

I've had a quiet late Sping into Summer. And now the songs are fading away although Blackcaps are very numerous locally this year and still singing fairly well. House Martins are reasonably abundant compared with last year but Reed Warblers and Cetti's are fewer along my trail/river runs. Like everyone else I've seen/heard the noises of plenty of fledged young and heck, some of the sightings and photos above are just great.

Steve, loads of blackcaps here this year as well. Hard to know whether it's just that I'm noticing them more, but I do think there are more of them. Plenty of reed warblers here too - I wouldn't say any fewer than normal. No willow warblers, though, which is odd, and disappointing. I love the soft, slightly melancholy song of the willow warbler.

Blackcap seem to be doing well in our area steve and in Devon. After a really late arrival swift numbers not bad and hirundines great. Best year for cuckoos for a very long time. Mipit great too. I’ve seen one report of wood warbler at Strid woods only and I never heard one sadly

I saw some colourful birds this morning on my bike ride, a pair of woodpeckers (too fast to work out which ones) a jay, I heard skylarks (but didn't see them), swifts, swallows and there was also a pair flitting in the hedgerow I can't identify. They were very like sparrows but were greeny-yellow.
