Relax and enjoy. Install a good sense of humour before setting off. PLASTIC BAGS for your feet... so you can change into dry socks and still walk around in your shoes.

Well, we survived! A stress fracture and bronchitis didn't stop us (but did make us rather slow). Had a great time and stayed mostly dry. Thanks RooA for the plastic bags tip: I see they're quite the fashion accessory at the camp.

I might well be doing the OMM next year. Its my sisters hairbrained idea and I accompanied her on the OMM training weekend in Snowdonia the other week so now i'm the likely candidate to do the OMM with her next year.

Good luck to anyone going this weekend. Looks like the weather will, as always, be mental.

Not there, but will be down the road in Preston on Sunday doing a road marathon :-o and thinking of you all having fun on the fells. At least there's Beachy to make me smile on Saturday first.

Have a good time, and I hope the weather is fun. Challenging but not dangerous.

So how did the OMM go? Anyone there?

Also, a small reminder about the GMC (http://grampoc.com/2012/08/15/grampian-mountain-challenge-2012-glen-dye-17th18th-november/) in a couple of weeks, up here in sunny (?) Aberdeenshire. It's also got it's own Fetch thread: http://www.fetcheveryone.com/viewtopic.php?id=51667

I was at Howgills for my first OMM. Saturday was lovely - cold but beautifully clear. Had a few minor navigation issues, but nothing too bad. Sunday was horrendous. Very poor visibility, very windy, wet and cold. It was pure survival for us on the peaks. Navigation was very poor too - just when we needed it most!

All in all, just about everything you want for a mountain marathon!
