In contrast the thermostat was broken in my local pool this morning. It was like swimming in a bath, and as far as I could tell even warmer water was coming in through the vents! I managed about 2/3rds of my usual distance before I gave up and I saw many others do likewise. I also saw someone treated for heat exhaustion.

They'd opened all the doors, including the fire escape (the air temperature wasn't really the problem although I'd noticed it was quite warm before I'd got changed for my swim), so I went and sat outside for 5 minutes to cool off before I got changed for work. Madness.

Focused on 3 stroke breathing today. Stopped as needed but pleased that the need got less. Think that will be my focus for a while.

Focussed on a bit more power today. Swam fast enough to need to stop every few lengths for a breather and ended up slower than if I'd done my usual plod-along stroke.

Had to get out when the cleaners in the changing areas started using their floral scented whatever, which drifts across the surface of the pool and makes me cough. Like walking past a branch of Lush.

Your first paragraph is *exactly* why I swim at my slow'n'steady pace Helegant :-)

And your second paragraph made my throat constrict in sympathy :-(

*hello* :)

I've just been to the pool and did a lovely leisurely half-hour of breaststroke to see if my knee doesn't mind. :)

It was the "active in retirement2 session - so I sympathise, Helegant, although it was the smell of hairspray that was choking me

I am back in the pool as my knee is playing up running. Always love it when I get back down there, only tend to go when I cant run! (Even paying a membership fee each month, albeit reduced)

Been 3 times this week already.

I will say what I always say, I must keep this going even when I am back running!

Went to the pool with a friend and did 40 lengths. Breathing all over the place tonight.

Lesson cancelled yesterday due to instructor being poorly

1st swim in months and it was awesome. Very short and No technique (other than not drowning). But reminded me I need to go more often. :-)
