I paddled up to my knees post run this morning. I have never seen the sea so flat calm and really wanted just to fall into it and float for a bit.

Another lovely swim in the sea on Saturday morning with the outdoor swimmers. Well I say swim, but it was more floating with intent :-)

I really haven't done enough swimming this year to test myself, so it's nice just to be comfortable in the water

My swim in the lake was very pleasant this morning, but there's very sad news this afternoon. A man went into the water after his dog (no idea why he needed to do that) and his body has just been found. He was not a member of the swimming section but just someone walking his dog on the lakeside path, I believe. The water really isn't cold or deep where he went in so what happened, I have no idea. Very sad.

On a kind of related point, did anyone see the BBC Breakfast items about the new swimming lake in Lewisham yesterday? While I obviously agree that open water swimming is great, I thought they were remiss in not emphasising the safety precautions you should take , and the possibility of cold water shock (not in any of the pieces I saw anyway.)
