Day off for me, feeling pretty broken after some solid weeks and a kicktastic swimming session last night. Also trying to crash my weight down a bit to make a dent in the Christmas bulge... predictable result but it had to be done.

Tough call WW - I can totally sympathise - last year ended up being the 1st one with no marathon since taking up this running lark in 2007 [whilst others may have racked up hundreds in that timescale I reckon I've got 20 to my name]

I dont pop in much but if anyone is at the Farnborough half this Sunday I'm driving the 90 min pacing bus with a view to tapping out all the miles in a very controlled 6.48 - 6.56 range(variance for it isnt pan flat and has a few silly turns).

If your a sub 3 runner it's a nice easy way of getting the miles in without over thinking it or being tempted to race it.

Sorry to hear about your Achilles WW, I'm (hopefully) just coming out of injured status and am now considering whether I have enough time to get in shape for London.

Been back running since Christmas and over the last couple of weeks my mileage has crept up to around 30, and looking like I'll be around 40 by the end of this week. If that goes well I may get close to 50 the week after, and from then will have 12 weeks until London (9 or so of proper training and then a gradual taper). Not feeling very fit or fast as it stands and am a good 8lbs over my recent marathon racing weight.

Focus will be mainly aerobic miles, a few threshold runs, and very little parkrunning (apart from maybe as part of a longer run, so not full effort).

Sub3 seems a good distance away, and if looking unlikely I might defer and save my London entry for 2021, but if honest I'm just happy that I feel ready to think about training again, as these feet issues have been really tough.

Good news Brunski. I'm sure you have time to get in shape (I certainly hope so!).

Easy with the weight loss when in hard training jda. That was illness lies.

I'd love to Gobi but a bit far for me unfortunately.

Made up for the starving with a monster curry :-) and a good threshold session again beating last year's equivalent effort by 2-3 secs per km which is encouraging.

Good to have you back brunski, build up slowly and see where you get to.

Sounding positive jda, that 2.45 sounds like it’s edging a little closer this year.

I’m glad the first p&d training block is finished today and it’s a recovery week next week. I might even take my first day of the year off tomorrow. Mileage and pace is looking promising and set what would have been a 10 mile pb in my marathon pace block on today’s run 😃
