Great five miling guys. Ive entered a local 5 miler on 5th June. It’s a bit hilly but it’s the only five miler I’ve done. My Pb dates back to 2008 when it was short. I would like to renew that Pb but sub 31 is my aim so. If as grand as others. |

Having some local races post marathon is good call, it's way too easy (for me) to just take the foot off and sloth after a marathon build up. I have a trail 5 miler (actually WW you could do it after work - Woodman 5) next week, and then London 10K next bank holiday Monday. Feels good to run a bit harder in training at the moment also, than just lots of easy miles. But that can't last too long. |

hadn't heard of that one MPH but you're right, that's about a mile from the office. Thankfully, I'll be in Houston next week - I say thankfully as I still get the ebbiegeebies running on Ashtead Common having broken my ankle running there a couple of years ago. 5 miles is such a nice distance. There's never really very far to go! |

I'll be honest, it's the lure of a local race and finish at the pub that has me entering! Enjoy Houston though!

Sadly, I've fallen into exactly that sloth trap mph. I've been doing very little running post-marathon when I could have been cashing in on shorter races. Motivation is quite low at the moment (I've put up a blog about possible future goals) - it'll come back in time. I did do a two day cycle event at the weekend, but that's just excacerbated it. The joy of whizzing along country lines relatively effortlessly on a bike has made the two-legged, zero-wheeled, version less appealing.

Yeah well I bet I've been more slothful than all of you and I've got another marathon tomorrow! Oops. I would like to say at least I'm well rested but three weeks of traveling has left me pretty knackered.

Possibly should be posting on the 3:30 thread....but I did manage a first finish today at Bentham in 3:24. All went very much according to plan, I kept in touch with the leaders for the first half and then pushed up the big hill on the way back. Which meant a long solo run enjoying the views. And time to stop and pull down a brexit party poster on the way Pleasingly, I didn't suffer from the leg lock that usually grabs me towards the end of a marathon, so I think I can put that down to being right on the limit rather than anything fundamental about a long hard(ish) run. Quads did suffer a bit but that can be attributed to the hilly terrain. Made a last-minute decision to use the VF again, which was probably the right choice though they aren't that great on steep downhills. Very soft/flexible uppers didn't really hold my foot in place. No injuries or real problems though. |

Great stuff jda, sounds a perfectly executed win I had a decent little parkrun outing this morning...330 ft of climb in 5k (or 3.04 miles according to the watch), the first couple of laps were hard but fairly controlled, with the lad out in front putting a few yards into me on the mammoth (heartbreak) hill at the end of each lap. I didn’t leave it to chance and midway through the final lap I upped a gear and ended up winning (first finisher) 20 seconds infront of second place. |
