That would have annoyed me too jda. I would have thought that two weeks was enough to stop feeling the effects of altitude too much. I guess it depends how high and very much on the individual. I remember when we were in Nevada for a tri I went out for my first run and came back saying how hard I'd found it to breathe which was poo pooed by Mark until he tried! A few days later we went up to 9000 feet (I think it was, the Mary Jane Falls or something similar) we got out of the car and I was fine whilst Mark could barely breathe and move at the same time - and he'd been worried about me because I'm asthmatic.

Well walking around and even jogging is fine, but race pace efforts soon find us out (wife is same). Proper intervals are even more brutal, there's just no way to pay back the oxygen debt.

Bah. Had vague hopes of an improved parkrun (with only 15 events so far my vet category record should have been within reach) but tired legs and no competition meant I ended up jogging round at a rather pedestrian pace. Still a pleasant start to the day.

1:33:50 at Alloa Half Marathon for me today. Couldn’t imagine keeping that pace (let alone Sub 3 pace) for another 13.1 miles! Guess that’s what happens when you run a Half on a hot day without training properly for it. On the plus side, my twisted ankle has obviously healed up, as it gave me no grief at all.

Fergus - Its a start and no shame in the time! 👍🏻 Like the majority of us who were torn to shreds by London, you are in a period of rebuilding! 😎 |

Really lovely run this morning to round off our holiday, 21km with the local running club with meadows, forest, canyon and some very impressive company (is it company once they've vanished into the distance?). I'm grateful that a few of the women were taking it easy and waited for me at the junctions

37:17 at Staplehurst 10k, 10th place and a 2 second PB! 😄 Three sub 38 10k’s and 3 distance PB’s this year, means I should not be too disheartened by my London Marathon disaster! How is everyone’s running going lately! 🤞🏻 |

Good work Lee! I did 16 miles in the heat today, but it was about building up the base mileage rather chasing a time target. A bit tired towards the end, but enjoyable with no need to push hard at all. It’s another 3 weeks before I succumb to the pressure of another 18 week P&D plan, so best to embrace the lack of structure while I can! |

Good stuff Lee! Celebrate any pb! I've been trying to practice running in the heat - not enjoying it but have been getting the miles. Indeed breaking my mileage pb for the year looks like being my main achievement! Feeling confident of finishing the RTTS 100km next month, but am expecting a classic first half, slow second half. |

Well done Lee, always great to pick up some summer PBs as a reward for all that marathon training...especially with the marathon taken out of your control the way it was. Cycling for me, the BMBO nat champs (MTB orienteering) this weekend. Fantastic weather and great fun hammering along tracks and paths round Hebden Bridge on a tandem Two weeks to wilmslow half and I’m not expecting to set any records there but it will be a good test of how my running fitness is holding up over the summer. |
