I very occasionally get a spot of pain under a foot arch - a sort of hot sharp feeling almost like a cut or stone, but not really very sore. It always goes away readily enough. Is this what early-onset PF is like? More curious than worried (hasn’t happened for a while anyway).

jda, there seem to be loads of variations in people. I get something a bit like that from time to time as well but with care it settles down. It started with a very sharp pain once and was very sore near the heel, but cleared up in time. Some people though end up having to stop running ever again as a result. El Bee and Gymfreak are two examples on here and if you dig out the PF thread you can find more. I think what you desctibe and I have had are very mild and we are lucky that it hasn't ever escalated. I believe that Jordan Henderson is a pretty bad sufferer and that's why he has so much time out with injury. |

JDA, that sounds more like like morton's neuroma.

I have a Morton's neuroma that I manage - they are further forward in the foot, between the big / next toe or at least that's what I've been told. It does sound like PF to me JDA (& Chris). I think a lot of us get it to differing degrees and manage it in ways that are a bit less doom-like than Lee's assessment. If you want to get really scared about PF then mention it to Gymfreak, actually don't! |

I keep an empty beer bottle (Estrella - they are a touch smaller than others) under my desk at work which I roll my foot on when I think I'm getting an attack. Suffered with it quite badly about 5 or 6 years ago so I'm keen to get working on it as soon as possible.

ok on reading a bit it's not really close to either PF or MN in symptoms, just a bit of a tweak along the big ligament(?) under the arch (which is quite high in my case). Like I said, never been a problem, when I feel it I can't help but worry that it's going to get worse but in practice it never has!

jda, I've had a pain like that a few times, and it's resolved by tying my laces a bit less tight!

(When Bazo says never again- not *quite* true in my case. 8 years on now, and I can run half marathons just. I run an average of 27mpw these days, but have to be very careful- and it has taken 8 years to get back here, couldn't run for 5. I did in fact, talk to several surgeons about amputation after all the surgery possible and still not being able to walk at all. Anyway, back to your marathon running at my 10k pace |
