Thank you, same to you. Hopefully, we all stay healthy and injury-free.

I have done the Garmin schedules before and I found that they didn't quite work for me so I'm happy to try something new. P&D seems to be the most popular plan so I'm going to give this a go. I'll see what suits me and what doesn't. I guess that I missed the midweek long runs with the Garmin plan but the P&D will address that.

So I'm following a P&D plan again. Apart from when a tune-up race is called for, every Saturday is a recovery run. I want to treat parkruns as a threshold (or race) effort on a Saturday. Anybody else do this and still keep the long run on a Sunday?

Ideally would need to move your long run so it isn't adjacent to a tempo Stu. The structure in the plan is to leave you fresh for your quality runs (tempos, intervals, MP) and also to enable you to cope with the long run and total volume.

If you are already up to distance and the long runs are no problem for you, then may have capacity to handle tempo + long run in succession. :-) G

Pretty sure I did from time to time deviate and go harder for a parkrun but mostly because the actual races that ought to have been planned got cancelled for a variety of reasons.

In general, I'd stick with the plan as written and not deviate massively; OTOH if a flat out parkrun is what gets a smile on your face and the Sunday LRs aren't compromised as a consequence, then why the hell not!?

If it helps, I blogged my last few P&Ds in a bit of detail week by week

I used parkrun for one of the tune up races, and usually did a 10K and a half marathon sometimes too. Strictly the half shouldn't be in there because max is 15K tune up race. So I guess we all adapt things a bit. :-) G

StuH I didn't follow P&D this year in spring but the race schedule here meant that I had a 5-10k race on Saturday most weekends and then did the long run on Sunday. It was always a bit tough to get into the LR on tired legs but after a few miles, it improved. I just ignored pace and plodded on until I felt better. Mondays were rest days as you also have in the P&D or a very slow 3 mile recovery run with my beginners group (12:00 min/mi) so that didn't do any harm.

Thanks, larkim, I've pinned your post so that I can get back to the links later.
