It depends on where the transmitter of your headphones is. Some headphones allow you to change the side of the transmitter to suit which wrist you wear the watch on. I've heard reports that the newer music devices (Fenix 5+) have better reception than the 645 so which wrist you wear it on is less of an issue.

Only done a couple of tests with F5X+ (I'm not running on roads so don't need music!) but it seems to work well on the left wrist with the Aftershokz (which has its antennae on the right).

Resurrecting this thread to ask whether anyone else has noticed that when uploading a walk from a Garmin (735XT) to here, it's not categorised properly but goes in as "Cross-Training - General"?

Swimming uploads fine, ditto running, so I'm wondering if I need to do something to the profile on Garmin.

I’ve had that previously too. I think I had a few other things activities categorise wrong. Can’t remember what Fetch reported back when I mentioned it, but pretty sure it’s to do with the Garmin side and how it is categorised or something, not a user error.

I can tell you that walks uploaded from a 945 work fine so maybe Fetch just needs to tweak something so it works with the 735

If this has been discussed before, please forgive me!
I've had my Garmin chest strap HRM for at least 12 years maybe 15+... and it feels like it's been pretty accurate in all that time. Occasionally it records some whoppers, I change the battery and it's okay again.
But this time I've changed the battery and it's regularly recording a max hr of 235+ and average hr of 180 for treadmill walks with occasional 1 or 2 minute runs - which I know can't be right!
I know it's not a direct comparison but I left the chest strap off and did the same workout using the HR from the watch itself and that came in at 123 avg and 158 max which for the amount of 'puff' feels about right, and is where the chest strap used to record for that type of workout.
Do the monitors have a life? Has mine come to it's natural end? Do I really have to pay £60-85 for a new one?
It's with a Garmin Fenix 5s if that makes a difference.
Any ideas/feedback appreciated!

It could be that there was another runner on a nearby treadmill with a HRM, and you were picking up their signal as well as your own, or it could be the treadmill itself which was causing inerference.
Do you run outdoors as well? Might be worth check the accuracy when there's nothing/no-one else about to cause interference

I've seen them behave this way when they are on the way out. My chest straps tend to last 6 months to a year, so consider yourself lucky?

Not a Garmin, but I stopped using my Suunto chest strap when the readings started going all over the place. Maybe I should also investigate a battery change.

I don't think you can pick up the signal from another chest strap, unless you told the watch to pair with a new accessory, otherwise that would happen all the time at start of races etc.

Never heard of a chest strap only lasting 6-12 months - battery maybe ( but even then mines last 2 or 3 years ). 12-15 years is a pretty good lifespan though. I got a new one recently, went for a HRM-Run one, as that got best reviews for comfort. Managed to find one on eBay for £40 brand new which was lucky.
