I am looking to run the Comrades Marathon in 2009 but am having trouble finding training plans and advice for ultra marathons. Does any one have such a plan or know where I can get one.

I am also looking for ultra marathons in the UK that would be good to do for training purposes. Most of the ultras that I have found surfing are a bit extreme.

A cracking training run/race is the Three Forts Marathon - 27 miles (shortest Ultra you'll everdo!)

A fairly difficult run over the South Downs - you'll get excellent hiill training: up & down for the Big C - but be warned that even though it's a Down run in '09, there's still plenty of Ups!).

Have a look at my race profile - there's a few ultras on there.

There are plenty of ultras around the UK. As Tarange suggested, Draycote and Kent are particularly friendly events.

Feel free to fmail me if you want. Welcome to fetch :-)

It seems the Tring 40milers are still open for entries.
40m along the canal, stunning run.

But this is at the beginning of Feb, depends what your fitness levels are like, may be a little early in the year

I can thoroughly recommend Kent in August - it's a lapped course so you can do as many as you like right up to 52.4 miles :-) It is an extremely friendly event with great support, and you'll get plenty of Fetchie encouragement too :-)

Might be a bit soon for someone who hasn't started training yet though Sol!

I'll see you there :-)
