I’ll be there propping up our ladies C team. Just cleaned my spikes after their last outing in January when I said I was never racing XC again...

Have fun Zeb.

No ambitions for me either Uyuni - I'm a long way from being fit so hiding in our B team on leg 4, so either in the mass start or avoiding being caught by it!

Great day at Mansfield. Bone dry course, barely a spec of mud, glorious section through the woods and I managed to dip under 20 mins which made me very happy. All XC races should be 5k :-)

Plus my team squeaked past Stuart's by all of 4 seconds in the battle for the all important 96th place, although for thread harmony I should add that he was almost a minute quicker than me :-)

Loughton AC Vets race today, course had a couple of puddles but nothing other than that. A nice day for running.

Loved Mansfield today. As expected I was the slowest member of our team, but really enjoyed it, and wasn’t so far off the pace as I thought I might be.

Q for those with oversubscribed teams - how do you determine who gets to run?

Mansfield was as much fun as ever. Couldn't quite catch uyuni's team though!

Going by the results you must have been closing fast Stuart, as you put 30 secs into our last man. A hundred yards more ……

It’s getting harder Zeb. Previously our events sec would just ask who wants to do it and put the 3 teams together on a first come first served basis. He got a bit swamped last year so this time the captain asked a selected group of those who across the pace range that went to all of the league races in the summer or had otherwise supported the club. All a bit tricky as the criteria weren’t exactly clear and inevitably some of those not asked were a bit cheesed off.

Wish we had the same problem for the road relays as we’ve struggled to get a team together in recent years!

Uyuni I was but fortunately/ unfortunately he'd got into a race with a third person which dragged them both out of reach

Zeb glad you had a good day. As for selection it's rarely an issue for us, but broadly we'll take the fastest teams we can from those who've put their names forward before whatever deadline we've set.

We don't do the national XC relays, TBH I've only done the Midlands once as with long or late track season, need to fit a break in somewhere.

I presume you can only enter 3 teams of 4? I know the the regional relays aren't a qualifier for this but maybe you could use it internally as a qualifier?
