Youve just done your first Half, you have six months until your first Full. How to approach it?

Oh, the trainer I saw back in the spring said to stretch the calves any opportunity I get, even just stood by the kettle making a coffee, which is what I tend to do!

Standing on one foot while teaching is good for core stability and for ankle foot strength for me. Students don't seem to have noticed!!!!

HB I understand that dynamic stretching is better generally, if you are not already warmed up, but that calves are the muscles that it is most inadvisable to stretch cold.

I do that as well Mrs B. My students don't seem to notice either so we must have good stability, and/or riveting personalities.

I think I'm just being daft and not understanding the word "dynamic" as I use the second lot of stretches shown here, which appear to be dynamic anyway?

I also do the stretch by putting my foot on a chair a foot or so away and stretching, which I assume/hope is dymanic as well.

The difference is the movement, rather than holding a pose. Those look ok.

Ok, thanks. The calves have been miles better since starting the stretches, so was loathe to alter them.

It may not have been deemed 'running' by some people, but I have just completed my first marathon. A year after my first half, 4 months after tearing three sets of ligaments in my foot/ankle.

I bloody loved it! Every minute of it! Even the painful bits.

Made load of mistakes, could not run slow enough at the start so suffered for that later, but will definitely be back to run more :-) HB - go for it!
