This is not a slur on Manchester as I live in London and well.. that's it really I live in London. I've not been to Manchester since I used to go to the Hacienda in the early 90's. How safe would it be to run along there at 8 - 8:30pm?

I walked from Piccadilly to the new Man City stadium along a canal (at lunchtime, in my suit) and didn't get mugged,despite having a big "MUG ME." neon sign flashing over my head... ... if you want a more picturesque canal run,Marsden's only 30 mins away on the train...

I manage to eke out an existence without being killed to death on a regular basis, and am currently in possession of all four limbs at last count. Which part of the canal are you thinking of (as there are rather a few waterways from the centre of town). I can certainly try to point you toward nice places to go for a run. May even be able to join you depending on whether my graduating friend gets his arse in gear to sort out a do...
