Since this week will be my first attempt at Yateley , what's the general feeling on the best way to approach it? At the moment I'm thinking take it steady on the way up Vigo Lane, pick up time on the way down Cricket Hill, try to hold on to the advantage until the turn towards Waitrose and then just give it max beans all the way to the finish.

Sorry, dont know what the roads are called, but be careful trying to get too much back on the long down before the half way point - the long flat 5-7k is a chore if you've spanked that too hard, and that subtle climb at 8k becomes too much. That first climb is very runnable.

Looking forward to it myself :)

with the majority of the undulation in the opening 4k , with none of it being that severe, I don't think you need to worry. Just go out and relax, there is a bit of a kick up around 9k too but by then you'll be knacked anyway whatever the profile at that point. It's a nice race, good luck.

Too Much Water
Loved this when I did it 6 or 7 years ago, a definite course to negative split, always seems to be boiling, remember one year where there was a massive downpour for the first 15 mins

Everyone set? I did a gentle 4 miler yesterday. Hoping to go under 52:00 tomorrow (and beat a club mate who always beats me!)

Raring to go - hours gentle bike later on. Going for a course best, fingers and everything else crossed for a pb. Hope the temps stay lowish.

I'm looking forward to it. Calves are a bit tight after overdoing it a bit on Sunday but I'll have an easy plod tonight to loosen them off.

I can guarantee a course best with it being my first attempt. :-)

I'm hoping to go at least 55 for a new PB and may just try to hang on to the back of Nick.

BTW. Are you a software engineer by any chance mblnFERCr?

I keep hearing lots about this race. Will have to try and remember it for next year. Good luck to all those running.
