How awful for those who managed to get a spot, but understandable as to why it’s been done

Really horrid for everyone entered into the mass race- just hit the taper period too. And to be asked to pay again for next year's race, it's like £130 down the drain plus all the costs lost from this year if travel insurance doesn't cover it. Really hoping on behalf of my clubmate that FCO issues a do not travel to Japan so she can claim the £3500 (!) cost of her package back. It would have been her 5th major

That is indeed awful for those who've invested so much in getting the spot, paying all that money out and put in all that training. I do get it but hope people manage to get some of their expenditure back. Gonna be even tougher to get a place for next year now too. |

In 2016, Tim Peake ran the London Marathon on a treadmill in space... No seriously (and thankfully), Major Peake is not an official finisher from that year. What I'm saying is, if the Tokyo organisers made allowances for non-elite runners to 'take part' by other means then a whole new can of worms would be opened. Sadly for those who had entered, deferral is the only option and with it comes a financial cost. |

Results day for NYC marathon draw - I found out last year that I was in from my credit card being billed, then my runners dashboard was updated before finally getting the email. Hope everyone is drawn that still wants to be.

So, 3 majors cancelled so far this year, Chicago still going ahead at the moment but really can’t see it happening, very unlikely that we will go even if it’s still on.
