That doesn't make sense. What makes sense is Carlsen doesn't have proof and has been told he'll be legally in trouble if he says certain things.

Wasn't sure what to make of the statement when I read it. Very much felt like he didn't have proof, yet, but we've certainly not heard the last of this.

My doesn't make sense was aimed at a Hans mea culpa. That doesn't really fit with not being able to say anything. Yeah it's all circumstantial. |

Levi is wondering that if Magnus says something Hans will immediately sue. So if Hans says ‘I won’t sue’ Magnus will come out with more. It’s not over.

I’m no lawyer but I think the implication is clear in what Magnus is getting at. But the way it’s worded, has he actually accused Hans of anything? If Magnus says he believes something and comments on body language etc, is that actually accusing Hans, from a legal standpoint? I’ve no idea, but it appears carefully worded as he’s not outright accusing Hans, but he’s more saying what he believes is happening at this point.

And Hans shouldn't allow him to just say what he wants, his word is too powerful already. I'm guessing because Hans has cheated before Carlsen has more rope to pull in regards to defamation but a specific allegation pulls too much. Problem is everyone knows what he is saying. |

Yes, Magnus basically saying he won’t play against Hans again, putting tournament directors in a bit of a predicament, and potentially excluding Hans from those tournaments if the tournament wants Magnus there.

Statement doesn't really help much. Shouldn't be beyond them to arrange playing conditions that makes cheating impossible. Just do it behind closed doors with a delay on broadcast. |

But the way it’s worded, has he actually accused Hans of anything? Yes. Definitely. "I believe that Niemann has cheated more — and more recently — than he has publicly admitted." |

‘I believe’, is the words I mean. Is that a statement of fact, or just a belief? It’s clear what he is getting at, but as he outright accused Hans?
