Ha, I looked at that photo and thought 'great running form' and then 'that runner means business' and then 'ooh, good arm muscles' :)
I suppose it depends what you're used to.

Mave: you must have some scary towpaths round you...And scary roads, the most I get is the odd bloke leering out of a van and the odd person tooting their horn at me, who usually ends up being a friend saying hello :)

my daughter's friend will only do really light weights in the gym because she doesn't want to get muscly!

then again, she only does cv stuff at half speed as she doesn't want to look all 'sweaty and gross'

i'm not entirely sure why she goes, at all. unless it's just my daughter (who is very bossy) making her!

Some of the towpaths around our way in Birmingham were a bit gruesome, though mostly with poor sods living under the bridges :(

As with the roads, I never got bothered much when I ran, possibly because I looked like a prepubertal boy from a distance and a batty but harmless old lady from close up :)

If I gave my MIL a photo of me it would be of me wearing a grimace and holding a fuck-off knife at a threatening angle.

The towpaths are littered with drunks unfortunately. I still like to run them though, am just careful of the times I choose to do it. Same with the roads. I try and avoid the ones where I know I'll get hassle.

I was never worried about the drunks. They were more scared of me than I was of them.

The quiet, slumped ones are OK. But the gangs tend to be quite gobby.

Aye, the lads clustered around the benches with their cans could be a bit impertinent sometimes. I suspect having no imagination has made my running a great deal easier :)
