My official time was 17 seconds quicker than my Garmin, Lammo. But it recorded the distance right for once. What was Naomi's theory?

That the chip time started when we crossed the finish line not the start line...

To clarify, I think the chip time started from when we crossed the second chip mat on the way out, i.e. what was the finish line when we came back.

Good race for me :-) And very nice to see lots of people down the pub later

I have just seen the results and agree with that theory.

It would also make sense as my Garmin measured it as 13.16 and the mile buzzer was going off consistenly about 30-50m ahead of the mile markers on the course.

Hmmm. I started my Garmin at the first mat and it showed a total distance of 13.09, a bit less than correct distance. My official time is 19 secs quicker than my watch time so they must have started the time at the wrong mat. That means the official times are for too short a distance. Someone's going to get their wrist slapped!
