Oh yes, the netsuke figure is great, carries a lot of weight, too.

Yes - the netsuke figure was a great foil.

I thought The Steep Approach to Garbadale was a return to early style and really liked it.

I completed an early one recently that I'd missed, finally - Whit. Didn't enjoy it as much as I thought I would.

Bad news: they've cancelled it

On the other hand: I didn't know they were doing it

Me neither. And I don't have Prime. But still bad news.

Oh, I did wonder what was happening as there had been no news for ages :-(

I guess at least they can't ruin it now!

I don't usually watch things when I've loved the book anyway. Saying that, I did enjoy The Crow Road when it was on the telly.

I thought The Crow Road was excellently cast, and very well done, with one exception - trying to be unspoilery, but the way a certain person dies is changed in a way that I thought could alter how the protagonist reacts to the situation, which undermines a key thread in the book. I always wanted to ask Banks himself what he thought of that detail.
