Drink them. Sports drinks / milkshakes / fruit juice / lattes / soup etc. Extra jam on your toast. Less fibre, more refined carbs. That last bit really surprised me but I was told that I just had to get the damn things in, the quality of nutrition is secondary to getting enough energy supplies in.

ok, it's only for a short time, it just feels wrong doesn't it?
i suppose you need a mixture of complex and smple carbs because otherwise you just cannot eat it

my protien was really low too, less than half of what the book said i should eat coming up to a race, i thnk i need to have another look at it.
it must be hard for the vegans in terms of quantity, i know thore is plenty of non animel protein out there but it is bulky to eat

Exactly, it is only for a short time but it does feel wrong to load up on simple sugars to get you through a race. The theory given to me was that you need energy full stop, and if you're using it all up, it doesn't matter whether it's simple or complex carbs, it won't be around long enough to turn into fat, and you will probably avoid the sugar highs because you're loading all day.

I have 17 training weeks until Windermere (1 week's holiday as well).

I had better start training :-)

Training started, but only just. It's been the weather to blame. M'Lud honest.
