Did the forum pages just get wider, or is it my imagination?

Yep, they did indeed ( viewing in Chrome, using Windows 10 ). I think they were always full screen width on mac OS going by screenshots that Fetch has put up in the past.

It's something that kicks in if your browser window is at least 1200px wide. Try grabbing the side of your browser window and making it narrower, to see all the layout variations it goes through.

But no, it wasn't full screen on Mac, I just crop the images before uploading.

Some of the pages will benefit from the extra width with no further changes, but others might get a bit of adjustment to contain a few more columns.

The BBC news page is a good example of an extra column that drops in when the page is extra-wide: bbc.co.uk (when you narrow their page, the extra column drops under the main stories).

Glad it wasn't just me imagining things.

Our bounds are now set.

If anyone is interested in the technique, google "responsive design". Basically, it means a web page that renders differently depending on the capabilities of the viewer's device.

But... I've just switched it off, as I've noticed a very prominent problem with our home page.

Got something to say?
