I'm using and old bike light hand held for now & that works well for easy to mid pace runs. I think it's about 200 lumen and wasn't bright enough for road cycling, so it was relegated to be the household / travel torch.

Good points are that the lens gives a focus point with some spill to the sides. It's usb-charging, it has a low orange mode which I flip it too when I want to be seen but can see. It's water resistance.

So far, hand holding for a hour is ok. I like being able to move it to pick out suspect cracks holes. I'll probably still get a head torch but it's not as urgent now. The bike light is adequate.

Received an Aplkit Gamma III today, replacing my old Gamma ?? which had failed from a combination of ye olde battery compartment lid retainer breaking off, and me leaving it with batteries inside one too many times.

Battery box on the III is a completely different design and feels a bit heavier & bulkier than the previous model.

But as it was cheap, I don't really use a headtorch very much, and a few grams of extra weight isn't going to affect my world record attempts... I'm happy enough with it.

Bought a fenix hm65r-t a few weeks ago and wasn't disappointed. 1500 lumens with both beams on (which after testing I will rarely use other than for very technical terrain) is like running in daylight. The 400 lumen flood is more than enough for general use and get around 12 hours with that.

Did not have any photos but these stills from video show the difference when compared to my 300 lumen Alpkit Manta on the same stretch of my night run.

Ta. Good enough for most occasions, my old Petzl Myo was only 170 and that lasted me for years.

Mine is an Alpkit Qark
It's ludicrously bright, I keep meaning to test it out on proper off-road routes
