Apologies if this is repeating some older threads folks, but wanted to get some views on which Garmin (or equivalent) watch to get. I currently have a 305 but have experienced problems with connecting the device (have bought a replacement cradle but still having problems connecting sometimes). Plus I've had it a good few years now and just fancy a change!

I just need it for running, not too bothered about HRM. Needs to be GPS (ideally finding satellites quicker than my current watch). Would like it to cope with intervals sessions, show current/average pace, time, distance. Nice uncluttered display would be good.

Any recommendations?

I like my 920XT, loads directly onto phone/iPad via Bluetooth.

Not used the interval function, easy to change data fields to suit yourself.

I love the 220 - finds satellites quickly, very clear display. You can create interval programmes and download them onto the watch. It does have the bluetooth functionality but my phone isn't swanky enough - but I use Fetch to store all my run data anyway via the FIT files so that doesn't bother me. You can pick them up at a good price at the moment in a lot of places as the 225 is now out.

For your needs, I'd imagine you'll struggle to find a better "deal" than a Garmin 220 for £120ish. Certainly there appears no need to spend £300+ on a 920xt as, from the requirements you describe, I'd guess you'd use less than about 25% of the available features.

Thanks guys, 220 is one I've been looking at so may plump for that.

See you've been busy in "my" zones Nelly ;-)

DS - I've been doing quite a few out and backs along the canal recently, as I've been trying to keep my heart rate low, so flat is good... but I've left the Conquercise game so all of "my" zones are there for the tacking :-)

Almost bought a 220, 225 or 620 but GPS accuracy issues put me off. Bought a Suunto Ambit3 instead which has great GPS accuracy but I hate almost everything else about it.

Wish I'd bought a Garmin.

I like my TomTom runner Steve. Cheap, bluetooths to phone easily, nice clear display etc. If updated, finds satellites incredibly quickly.

But Garmins are always a solid choice.

I've got a Garmin Vivoactive on its way in the post :-)

Can't set up interval sessions on it though, so maybe not suitable for the OP.
