Cyclops
I can't remember but I did own 'Now that's what I call music' which didn't need any numbers because it was the first one! And it was on cassette.

Rosehip
I had the first NTWTCM too Cyclops. My early singles collection includes Rod Stewart's Sailing, Mudd's Tiger Feet and Slade's Blockbuster - not sure which came first. I think Jailbreak -Thin Lizzy - was my first album.

Longwayround [LWR]
The first *record* I ever bought was Macca's "Pipes of Peace" However, I bought "Father Abraham in Smurfland" on cassette when I was six or seven, on the day that my brother bought ABBA's "Super Trouper", thus saving me the money I'd saved up to buy that self-same cassette. |
