Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

The "How are you?" questionnaire linked to in the Guardian article about how most of us aren't doing enough healthy stuff ground my gears, asking for my first name at the start and then using it back at me like an insolent spiv. "Well, Raptor, you clearly try, Raptor, but Raptor, you're not doing as much as you could be doing to stay healthy and Raptor Raptor Raptor more exercise more fruit less chocolate blah blah."

Couple of nice chilly frosty mornings and it's apparently 'The big freeze, anyone over 65 stay indoors'. FFS, they're acting like it's -35

Agree wholeheartedly with V above. I could feel the computer's disappointment at having to tell me that my smoking and drinking left no room for improvement.

At least it didn't come back to me at the end and accuse me of lying about those two points.

At the end, I couldn't even work out where I'd lost loads of marks, it was just like, "Raptor, you got a few things right but you should be making a lot more effort, go away and improve and then come back and see whether I slag off your lifestyle any less."

(It did deign to tell me that I should be exercising more. From the content of the questions, I assume it meant, "You dirty slattern, 20 minutes of housework on some days is not enough even if you do have a four-hour blitz on other days.")

There seems little point in any health questionnaires when the supermarket I was in today has a whole aisle dedicated to sweets and crisp type snackettes.

The trouble with supermarkets is that they are very efficient machines and react instantly to what people buy, they are choc (:-)) full of crap because that is what people buy, hence the uselessness of the recent sugar tax.

Education is the answer and daft 2 minute items on the BBC won't cut it, that'll be forgotten then next health 'scare' comes along. It's a fact, unfortunately that wealthy well educated people eat better food and exercise more because they know they have to.

Depressing though, that small supermarkets contain so very much in the way of alcohol, crisps, sweets and so on, and so few genuine ingredients to make your own food out of.

I feel it's worse in the parts of Scotland I've been to lately, but I'm prepared to be wrong.

Mummy milestone cards or anything of the like. FFS. No one cares or wants to know if your child went to the bathroom alone for the first time and it certainly doesn't need an announcement!!!
